What have I learnt in the progression from preliminary task to now

In the progression of the whole tasks from preliminary task to the full product I have learnt mostly, that planning is one of the most important aspects of media production and needs to be done fully. I know this because I could not think of an idea at first which slowed the whole process down alot . This is why next time I will decide of an idea from the start and not just a rough idea. you need to think very clearly of what exactly  it is your are doing. From some small research and inspirations I finally chose an idea. Another point I learnt is that you need to back up your work as some of our schools computer where stolen and I lost some footage that had to be retaken. I also learnt that editing takes along time to right and needs to be edited carefully and not rushed.

What i have learnt

I learnt how to use many new software from my foundation production for example iMovie, Adobe after effects, Final cut express and many more. I also learnt many new techniques such as how to editing and also camera and angles and shots. I learnt that planning is very important and should you should spend alot of time on it. I also learnt that using to two different operating systems (mac and windows) doesn't help as it takes time to keep transferring from different formats. Also I learnt that a I should use a good quality camera for example a HD camcorder as the camera shots and the open credits have a big difference in quality which makes the video less professional.

Use of Media Technologies

While I was producing my foundation production I used many media technology throughout. For example:

Camcorder
I used a Sony camcorder to film all my clips this was a good camera which was easy to control how if I had the money I would of bought of better camcorder this one would have a HD feature this would of help alot when filming as the open credits are in HD quality which would make the film much better. The Sony camcorder also had a problem of transferring from tape to the computer as the computers are macs I had to improvise and transfer to a pc which then could be downloaded to a usb to put on the mac I went though all this trouble as the mac have iMovie which is what I used to edit the clips.

iMovie
I used iMovie to edit my raw footage, so I could easily put it straight into the film where I needed it. iMovie is a great video editing software as it is easy to use and simple to edit. This was a great editing software to use as person new to editing

iDVD
I used iDVD to import my film on to a hard copy on DVD. iDVD was easy to use and create a DVD menu the only problems where that the export time was very long and some formats do not work.

Audience

I believe my film would be best suited to adults of an age range of about 25+ as the film is less about violence and danger and more about the emotional side of being alone the world not knowing if there is anyone else out there.

I believe i addressed the audience by not revealing to much of the film at the start as this make the viewers what to now what is going to happen and watch on. However i believe i could of made more of a suspense  by maybe adding sound at the end. For example a noise animal in the background like a wolf howling this would show he still has to fight off animals on he's journey as well.

Real media Conventions

My film uses some media conventions but also argue some. For example my film uses emptiness of cites like in the film i am legend. As this is similar as one man left in the city however in i am legend there a zombies to keep the action going throughout the film so the views do not leave. However my film challenges this as my film would try to keep the views watching with the emotional side of the film of him being the last alive instead of violent zombies.

What I Would Of Done Differently

If i had the chance to do this again i would do many things differently for example even though i chose to keep acting to a minim to make it more professional film next time I would still have more acting as is makes the product more dull without it.
I would also use a tripod all the time as there are some sots on a slant.
Also if I had the chance I would plan more at the start so I don't have to change lots of things half why through.
Next time I would also like to use a more advanced camera as I believe the ones I used made the video quality very bad compared to the edited credits and titles.

Evaluation of Shots Taken

I believe I took some good shots for my product such as:

This shot is of a football pitch i was trying to show that where there would normally be children playing on the grass but not anymore.

Another shot I liked was:

I liked this shot as well because there is a path, then grass and then water this is a rule of thirds. I also like it because it looks sort of fogy and run down which is what i am looking for however it would look much better if I put rubbish scattered on the floor to make look even more like people don't go here anymore.

I could of made other shots better as well for example:

This is a good shot in the sense it show emptiness which is what i was looking for however the shot is not good as i could not use a tripod for this part so the video is wobbly however i still used it because it still give the point of emptiness.

I also could of made this shot better by using a tripod as it is slanted however i still used it in my product because i like how the light is coming of the mud show they maybe some light though all the darkness of being alone.
